Community Action Council
CAC is a nonprofit dedicated to helping families in crisis get back on their feet, with the help of over 2,000 volunteers working out of more than 50 locations in Dakota and Scott counties.  They also work with the larger community on crisis prevention to minimize long term costs to our community and improve our overall quality of life.
Community Action Council also operates the Lewis House – battered women’s shelters in Eagan and Hastings with extensive outreach and support services. Each year they sponsor Armful of Love - the holiday gift program for needy families in DakotaCounty. And they operate a network of emergency food shelves.
Community Action Council is located in over 50, easily accessible sites in schools, community centers, apartment complexes, faith communities and police stations throughout Dakota and eastern Scott counties in Minnesota.

MICAH
Religious leaders, housing advocates and low income housing developers founded MICAH in 1988 in response to the accelerating homeless crisis. Through MICAH, more than 150 congregations from Jewish, Christian and Muslim faith traditions organize for justice in housing. We envision a metropolitan area where everyone without exception has a safe, decent and affordable place to call home.
Since its inception, MICAH has gained extensive experience waging local and regional policy campaigns to change policies and shift public resources to affordable housing. Our grassroots organizing model develops congregational leaders who speak out, earning our members the notable distinction as one of the ‘noisiest interest groups.’ (Star Tribune, 2003)
MICAH has built relationships, established ourselves as an affordable housing resource, given decision-makers essential guideposts against which to make sound choices, built our credibility at the local level, and developed a history of affordable housing campaign victories. You can contact MICAH at 612-871-8980.
